K-20 Electronic Transcript & Data Exchange
The First Nonprofit-Led Solution to Enable K-20 Data Exchanges Nationwide

What is the Clearinghouse K-20 exchange solution?

The National Student Clearinghouse has developed a system to enable electronic transcript and data exchanges between K-20 educational institutions nationwide. This is the first nonprofit-led national solution for providing transcript and data exchange services and capabilities across the secondary and postsecondary continuum.

The new K-20 system builds upon and complements the Clearinghouse’s existing global transcript and exchange platforms, including Electronic Transcript Exchange and SPEEDE Server.

How does it work?

The Clearinghouse has expanded our Electronic Transcript Exchange platform, used by postsecondary institutions, to include K-12 schools and districts. Why is having a nonprofit-led solution important?

We are offering this solution to meet the requests of many institutions that the National Student Clearinghouse, a nonprofit, provide a national K-20 transcript and data exchange system, addressing the concerns of many educators reluctant to provide for-profit companies with direct access to their student data. Unlike nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies must answer to their stockholders and/or investors, who are primarily focused on maximizing profit. There may be little or no oversight regarding data mining of student information, a growing concern as cloud-based applications become more popular. Additionally, for-profits can be sold, merged, or closed with little or no notice, putting the security of student information at risk. These troubling scenarios are deeply worrisome for educators, parents, and policymakers.

Why should you choose the Clearinghouse to provide your K-20 exchange solution?
